Is the carbon fiber hood safe?

Of course, the answer is No. the reason is not that carbon fiber is not easy to design in modeling, which requires a lot of time and labor cost, but that the toughness of this material is less than that of steel. Although the rigidity of carbon fiber is similar to that of general aluminum alloy and steel, its biggest weakness lies in the lack of toughness.

In many cases, the "carbon fiber hood" purchased by car owners is not made of real carbon fiber, but a layer of carbon fiber sticker is pasted on the surface of glass fiber. As far as the material of the hood is concerned, in fact, the glass fiber material can allow small deformation. Although the willfulness is slightly better than that of carbon fiber, the deformation range is less than that of resin fiber, and there are still potential safety hazards in the collision.
