Development History
In 1993, the new 850Ci replaced the 850i, and two models were released: the 840Ci, which used a 286 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 engine of 740iL, and the 850CSi, which was equipped with a 380 horsepower 5.6-liter V12 engine. The 850CSi also used sports suspension and 17 inch wheels, while reducing the height of the car. In 1994, BMW increased the exhaust capacity of the 850Ci from 5.0 liters to 5.4 liters, increasing its power by 22 horsepower. In 1996, 840Ci replaced a brand new 4.4-liter V8 engine, and although the displacement increased, the output power remained unchanged.
In 1999, due to only 30609 units sold during its ten year production period, BMW had to announce the discontinuation of production for the 8 Series.
The 8 Series is a car model that few people come into contact with. However, it is precisely the BMW 8 Series, which appeared in the 1990s and was discontinued a few years ago, that is now brewing for a "comeback". According to the latest news, BMW is developing the latest 2010 version of the 8-series supercar, and I believe many car enthusiasts hope to have a quick look.
BMW owner Norbert hopes to unleash a new design concept and stimulate the desire of potential high-end consumers this time. Allowing BMW to continue to have a foothold in the luxury sports car industry, and the latest BMW 8-Series BMW 8 Series directly targets the competition with the Aston Martin DB9 and Porsche Panamera. The high positioning and high posture indicate BMW's confidence in the new 8-series, and there is no doubt that this once hidden supercar will become the flagship benchmark in the four-door coupe field on Earth.
The all-new BMW 8 Series is produced by BMW headquarters in Munich and shares the chassis with the next generation 7 Series. The engine is a V12 engine with 500 horsepower, corresponding to the 860i model. If you don't like such aggressive speed, there is a gentle model to choose from: the 850si with a 4.4-liter V8 engine, which is a twin turbocharged engine that provides 400 horsepower. In addition, there is an 835sd equipped with a 286 horsepower twin turbocharged diesel engine.
The tail lights have full tension, indicating the development trend of the 7,5,3 series in 2010. And the front face of the car has a unique style, in the words of car enthusiasts, this type of car front only belongs to the 8-series royal use.
The all-new 8-series BMW [13] has a bold and revolutionary design at the front and rear, in addition to the side waistline and bottom spoiler, which have genetic elements with other series. Moreover, it is completely different from the previous 8-series, highlighting a sense of future and unique personality. I believe that the new BMW 8 series will bring a storm to the market in the near future.
After BMW showcased the Zagato Coupe concept car, a two door sports car jointly developed with the Zagato design company in 2012, a heavyweight Gran Lusso Coupe concept car designed by the well-known company Bininfarina was introduced in 2013. This is also the first time the two companies have collaborated to develop a model, and this model is believed to be the prototype of BMW's upcoming resumption of production of the 8-series model.
On June 8, 2022, the new BMW 8 series four door coupe, two door coupe, and convertible coupe were launched in China.
