First generation Mercedes Benz CLS (C219)

CLS is a medium and large four door Coupe developed by Mercedes Benz in 2004 based on the third generation E-class (W211). The chassis code is C219. The three letters CLS represent Coup é, Limousiene, and Sport respectively, meaning coupe, four door sedan, and sports. Its unique body line design gives a good balance between luxury and sportiness, and perfectly combines the four door luxury car and sports car. Therefore, it is also considered as the originator of the four door coupe model.

Second generation Mercedes Benz CLS Shooting Brake Hunt Edition

In 2010, the model was upgraded and the second generation CLS was launched, with the chassis code C218. The most impressive feature of the second generation CLS is the hunting version of the CLS Shooting Brake. Compared to the regular three box version, the roof lines are more complete and smooth, showcasing the elegant temperament of the CLS to the fullest. The hunting version of this generation of models has also been introduced for domestic sales, and was launched in 2013.

Third generation Mercedes Benz CLS (C257)

In 2018, Mercedes Benz released the third-generation CLS based on the new E-Class (W213), with the chassis code C257. This generation of CLS adopts a brand new family style exterior design, with sharper front lines, adding some ferocity compared to the luxury and elegance of the previous two generations.

As the inventor of automobiles, Mercedes Benz not only invented cars as simple as cars, but also constantly sought breakthroughs, such as creating a unique four door Coupe model, giving the four door sedan a different posture and providing more convenient ways to get on and off the Coupe.

The CLS (W219) of the early generation evolved from the W211 E-class platform. As a size oriented coupe of the Executive car, its wheelbase is naturally longer than the E-Class. CLS has gained numerous design accolades thanks to Michael Fink's design of CLS in 2001. Looking at this car 20 years later, one can still feel the elegance and no sense of being outdated.
