Datsun released the second generation Z (internally referred to as "S130") in 1979. It is named 280ZX, as a more upscale coupe that leans towards the GT to some extent, and in order to provide a more spacious cabin, it is also wider than the previous generation. The Turbo model was launched in 1981 and discontinued in 1983.
As early as 1969, Nissan launched the first generation Fairlady Z series, which was still more popular in the European and American markets than in Japan. The initial 240Z is still available under the name Datsun and features a 2.4-liter inline six cylinder engine. Before the second generation was introduced in 1978, Nissan gradually expanded the engine capacity of the car series to 2.6 liters and 2.8 liters, respectively, and the names were correspondingly changed to 260Z and 280Z.
Nissan S130
The S130 series Z-type car is called the 280ZX. It retains the same 2.8 liter straight six engine as the old 280Z, but has a very different design, with a larger, heavier, and softer body, resembling a Grand Tourer with more than a sports car. Although its appearance is still beautiful, its speed is quite slow, and it was only better when the Turbo version was released. It is very popular in the market, especially in the United States.
Nissan Z31
The 300ZX was launched in 1983, abandoning the direct six and adopting Japan's first mass-produced V6 engine. Although the previous generation of the car series began to be renamed Nissan, there were still a small number of early versions sold under the Datsun name, and it was not until this generation of the 300ZX that it was officially named Nissan. After all, it was a product of the 1980s, and the body lines became square and firm.
That pair of signature recessed circular headlights is a classic from the 1960s, and it's time to change to a very special half switch appearance, jokingly referred to as not yet waking up. In terms of performance, it is the same as the previous generation, like the GT over sports cars. But this is exactly what people want, so it is more popular than Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 and Mitsubishi Starion in the same period.
Nissan Z32
The fourth generation Z, Z32, was released in 1989. The overall design has made significant progress, not only in terms of fast speed, but also in terms of precise and detailed suspension and four-wheel steering systems. The 0-97km/h acceleration of the twin turbocharged model only takes more than five seconds, which was incredibly fast in the 1990s. In Japan, Z32 300ZX was still available for sale until 2000, while export sales ceased in 1996.
Nissan Z33
Renault and Nissan merged in 1999 and decided to resume the development of the Fairlady series in the same year. In 2002, the Z33 was officially launched, featuring a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine with 287 horsepower and 37.9kgm torque.
